Does anyone know where I can find information on allotments that were give out? We have a document that states a allotment number with Jospeh Coursolle's name, but no idea where to look to see where it is or came from.

I have heard that in the newspaper Sota from Sisseton the office there is closed until June for some reason that might not pertain to the lawsuit and should be open before the deadline. I havent read the article yet but it can be accessed online. I can post the link if anyone likes.

we have been looking for probate papers on Hapan, Wabdisu for quite some time. Hapan was listed as living in Crow Creek and my great grandfather Sam Sully was born there. Any info is greatly appreciated.

We are in need of probate papers for Thomas Williams, who appears on the 1886 census. If anyone can help us out we would greatly appreciate it!! He is our great-great grandfather. (He and Louisa Frenier Campbell had a son together) We have had problems trying to get these from Minnesota. My email is ktsantee@msn.com. Again many thanks!!!! Winona

I don't know if this will help anyone, but Louise Frenier Campbell's records are at the Winnebago BIA Office. Maybe her records will list the child by her and Thomas Williams, and maybe it will list Thomas' name also. Just a thought.

Jackie thanks for that info. We have copies of her files and it only lists her two children, one being Samuel. Our problem is that we have been unable to place Louisa, Thomas, and Samuel listed together anywhere. He was allotted land in Santee in 1869. Was there a census done on the native families in Santee in 1869 and 1870? If so would you happen to have those? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!! My email is ktsantee@msn.com

Can you tell me where Julia & Thomas Williams met? I have an adult baptizmal for my gg grandmother named Annie Wheeler born 1867 and died 1940. It lists her parents as Foster Wheeler born in NH. And lists her mother as Julia Wabasha. Annie was born in Charles Mix County, SD. We have no other proof of who Annie's mother is. We think Thomas Williams ran away from MN, and met Julia Wabasha in Charles Mix,SD then moved back to MN. Annie was raised by her father.
